The Pump Mounted Driver (PMD) is the weak link in the Hummer H1 6.5L DS fuel pump. PMD failures generally occur due to exposure to excessive heat during engine operation. Attempts to provide for a cooler operating environment for the PMD has resulted in the development of many remote mount PMD solutions, which involve mounting the PMD away from the fuel pump. These solutions still do not address limitations in the original PMD construction. Now, WAP has a new and improved PMD which replaces the original O.E.M PMD on 6.5L DS fuel pumps. Plus, costs less than the original equipment PMD and most remote mounting solutions! HPW DESIGN HAS ADDED A NEW THICKER INSULATION PACKAGE WHICH ALLOW THE PMD TO REMAIN COOLER FOR LONGER LIFE AND YOU GET A 1 YEAR REPLACEMENT WARRANTY.

HPW PMD HAS HIGHER TEMPERATURE RATED COMPONENTS, RATED TO 125 DEGREES CELSIUS OPERATING TEMPERATURE VS THE O.E.M. AT 85 DEGREES CELSIUS.

THESE TEMPS IN EXCEED THE TEMP RATING FOR THE O.E.M. PMD COMPONENTS. REMEMBER THE O.E.M. IS ONLY RATED TO 85 C. TEST RESULTS WERE THE AVERAGE PMD TEMPS AFTER 100KM DRIVING DISTANCE AT 100KMH AND 250 CELSIUS AMBIENT TEMPS USING NEW O.E.M. PMD'S
YOU WILL NOTE THAT NONE OF THE OPERATING TEMPS EXCEED THE 125 DEGREE CELSIUS RATING FOR THE HPW PMD'S FLEXIBLE MATERIAL INSIDE THE HPW PMD ALLOWS FOR EXPANSION AS THE PMD HEATS UP WHICH MEANS LESS STRESS ON INTERNAL COMPONENTS AND BETTER VIBRATION ABSORPTION. THE #9 RESISTOR IS THE LARGEST VALUE AVAILABLE.UNLIKE GAS ENGINES, WITH THE DIESELS, THE MORE FUEL INJECTED, THE MORE HP PRODUCED. THIS RESISTOR MOUNTS EASILY ON THE PMD (PUMP MOUNTED DRIVER) FOR YOUR FUEL PUMP. CHANGING THE RESISTOR IS JUST LIKE TURNING UP THE FUEL ON THE OLDER MANUAL INJECTION PUMPS. YOU CAN RETAIN YOUR GREAT MILEAGE IF YOU DRIVE NORMALLY. YET IF YOU PUT YOUR FOOT INTO IT,YOU WILL HAVE CONSIDERABLY MORE POWER WHEN NEEDED, BUT YOU WILL SACRIFICE SOME MILEAGE. THE CALIBRATION RESISTOR WAS DESIGNED TO STRADLE THE PMD CONNECTOR PINS AND IS SANDWICHED IN PLACE BETWEEN THE HARNESS AND THE PMD/FSD CONNECTOR. DIESEL ENTHUSIASTS KNOW THAT INCREASING TO A #9 RESISTOR IS A DEFINATE PERFORMANCE BOOSTER.
